I am a dramaturg, lecturer and researcher focusing on devised and interactive performance, primarily in European contexts. After 20 years as a theatre maker (actor, writer, director and Executive Director of a cooperative theatre foundation) I left the midwest US for Ireland to pursue my academic career. Blending creative practice and academic analysis led me to dramaturgy: audience-centered, devised, multi-modal and interactive dramaturgies. Currently I live in Ireland and Belgium and research digital humanities strategies for theatre-makers.

My specialisms include contemporary Irish theatre, immersive and interactive dramaturgies, artistic research and new material feminisms. Recently, I have been working in the field of Cultural Analytics / Digital Humanities, with data as theatre. My research explores production development that encourages agentive and reflective contribution by audiences as well as by collaborative performance-makers.
